Leveraging my years of experience in finance and banking, I am now a Senior Advisor at Barclays supporting Personal and Corporate Banking. Advising on products to help people gain a roof over their head and assisting young people to gain the skills necessary for work through LifeSkills.
Much of my last several years in banking has been spent raising capital, initially as a result of the financial crisis in 2008. Subsequently, as Acting Group CFO for the bank, we raised a further £5.8 billion through a rights issue following the introduction of the new leverage rules.
CFO: Salomon Brothers, Asia Pacific:
Having developed an interest in Asia, relocated to Hong Kong for 3 years in 1996. Led the acquisition of County NatWest bank in Australia and subsequently the regional merger of Salomon Brothers with Smith Barney and then Citibank in 1998.
CFO: Citigroup’s Banking Division, New York:
Following the merger with Citibank, relocated to New York, initially as CFO Investment Banking and then CFO of the combined Banking division. In September 2001, led the recovery of the banks operations following 9/11, having witnessed the collapse of our offices at World Trade Centre.
The highlight of my professional career was being admitted to the partnership of Coopers & Lybrand in May 1993. As a partner I led the firm's Internal Audit Services to financial sector clients, having recently completed a 2 year secondment to Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore and London, where, for the latter part, I was Acting Group Chief Internal Auditor.
